True diameters

I have found that not all leader brands have true diameter to what is stated on leader wheels. I use a Sterrett vernier to measure and some are out by .002”. Not Cortland. When I build my leaders I want my step downs to be accurate. We spend good money on fly lines and rods for their engineering. I want the same with my leaders. I enjoy getting smooth energy transfer out of my gear. Accurate diameter sections of leader is a good part of that.

New backing

Loaded this monofilament onto my new spinning reel. Using as backing for my new braid. Can’t wait to try opening day of trout in PA.

Thank you

Bass Leader Setup

I fish lots of smaller streams for smallmouth. I build my own leaders with 4 or 5 foot of 20lb down to swivel then add 1 ft of 14lb. Works amazingly well for me.

Tarpon leaders

Went on MRO/Flip Pallot's reccomendation to use it for Tarpon leader (less the shock tippet where I use fluoro) and I liked it a lot. Easy to tie.

Great Leader Material

While I'm a novice at tying my own leaders, this stuff is no introductory product. Great line and knot strength, abrasion resistance and low memory. I have been using it for tight-line nymphing as well as 'modern streamer' fishing and it works wonderful for both applications, depending on line weight. Go ahead and buy it, you won't regret it!

Worth it.

So many times you hear other fishermen tell you that you don’t need the better stuff. You can get away with the Walmart brands or rather the brands that Walmart sells. You can get away with the Walmart brands or rather the brands that Walmart sells. And maybe that’s true to a point, but when you actually purchase from a company who engineers and manufactures around product, the extra money is always worth it. And that goes double for cortland products.
