Great Rod. Great Company.

This is my first real fly rod. Both my fly casting instructor and I agree it is a great rod. Just the right amount of flex. Easy to control a cast. I needed some assistance when placing the order and the Cortland customer support team, particularly Mitch, was super helpful. Two thumbs up!

4 weight Guide Rod

Great rod to replace a great rod - Cortland CL rod that I had around 30 years. I hope to use it for another 30 years. It casts well and maybe a little better than the CL.

Great balance

Great balance, superior materials, my line pulls much smoother.

Rod came with the tip section crooked near the center line guides. Although I contacted the company and they are sending me a new tip section free of charge, I am surprised the rod made it through QC. It's labeled as a fast action rod, but it is definitely a medium action rod in my opinion.

Solid fly rod - great value

Trout are primarily caught through presentation, leader, (Cortland!) lines, and lastly fly selection. You can spend more on those things and less on a rod with these Guide Series rods which are a great value. Took my new 9ft 5wt out for the first time the other day and it casts well. I was able to achieve long distances with minimal effort using a Cortland line. I also have an 8ft 4wt and may buy additional rods at some point. Overall quality product and you can't go wrong with these.

Excellent all around rod

Excellent all around rod! From high sticking, to heavy nymph rigs, to dry/droppers. It has handled it all superbly

Great value.

I purchased a couple of guide series rods for friends that are beginning to fly fish and picked one up for myself. They are a tremendous value and are comparable to rods more than twice the price. Thanks for making fly fishing more affordable to the masses!

Fly Rod

I haven't used the fly ride yet, but I have used Cortland rods in the past that were excellent.

Very nice

Purchased the 8ft 4wt for smaller creeks and streams in PA where I live. I cast it in the yard today in the snow for the first time and was pleased. It was smooth on 40 to 50 ft casts. Balances well with an Orvis Battenkill I click pawl reel but will also try a small Cortland Crown click pawl reel that I have. Very pleased with the performance so far at this price and can't wait to fish it.

Cortland for life

31 years ago started with a Cortland 333. I have tried other rods but not sure why. 10,000 fish later I needed an upgrade for river fishing and purchased the guide series 6wt, 9 ‘. It casts like a dream and better than a $1500 outfit from another manufacturer I borrowed from a fishing guide recently. Thank you for all you do the rod is fabulous the price amazing, I am hooked on Cortland for life!!!
