Our Tropic Plus Clear Intermediate is the perfect choice for the angler looking to cover the middle water column in deeper channels, heavy currents, flats or the surf.
We built this line to feature a 41 ft. extended head that excels in both short and long range casts. The 3 ft. front taper will turn over a variety of fly sizes and weighted flies. The 31 ft. back taper excels is ideal for carrying line in the air and accurate presentations.
This line features a monofilament core and our signature tropic plus coating for withstanding the hottest temperatures while still remaining slick, supple and fast shooting. The thinner overall diameter excels at casting through windy conditions. This line is finished in a clear color for ultimate stealth on the flats or surf.

Our Tropic Plus Clear Intermediate is built for tropic environments and will perform best in temperatures above 70 degrees (F). Our Tropic PVC coating is designed to remain hard, slick and supple in the hottest conditions.
The taper design for our Clear Intermediate line was built to excel in both short and long range casting. This line has a sink rate of 1.5-2 IPS and is built oversized to load fast action rods when making short casts or long casts.
This line is finished in clear for ultimate stealth on the flats or sandy bottoms.
Cleaning your fly line is very important especially when fishing saltwater. Simply pull line off your reel into a clean bucket or tub of freshwater. Put roughly 1oz or more of Cortland’s Line Cleaner solution onto a clean rag or towel. Firmly squeeze the towel with Pro Line Cleaner around the line and slowly pull line through the towel. You should be able to see dirt or discolored streaks on the towel when finished.

Really happy with Tropic Clear Intermediate
I fished in Baja at the end of May for Roosterfish — first time. I checked in with Cortland Line as I was prepping for the trip and Richard recommended Tropic Clear Intermediate. I was fishing a 10 wt TFO. This line worked really well. This style of fishing is not for the faint of heart — it’s non-stop casting and stripping for 5 hrs. Throwing 70 - 80 ft casts and double-hand stripping as fast as you can and then repeating, again, and again. And then a fish eats and it’s chaos. I caught 3 roosters including 2 that were 50 - 60 lbs and 3 pacific jack crevalles that were also bruisers. Roosters are so strong — the largest fish took an hour to get to the boat. Tropic Clear Intermediate worked flawlessly!
