Learn more details about the Long Belly Distance fly line.
Our Long Belly Distance fly line is built for cold water environments and will perform best in temperatures between 30 and 70 degrees (F).
The taper design for our Long Belly Distance fly line was built with an extended body and extended rear taper for carrying a lot of line in the air and achieving maximum distance. The 7' front taper effortlessly turns over nymph rigs, streamers and long leaders paired with dry flies.
The moss green and white color change helps track casting distance and identify optimal pick up and shooting points. These colors are stealthy yet traceable in freshwater environments.
Cleaning your fly line is very important especially when fishing saltwater. Simply pull line off your reel into a clean bucket or tub of freshwater. Put roughly 1oz or more of Cortland’s Line Cleaner solution onto a clean rag or towel. Firmly squeeze the towel with Pro Line Cleaner around the line and slowly pull line through the towel. You should be able to see dirt or discolored streaks on the towel when finished.

This stuff shoots out SO dang FAR with EASE! It helped my accuracy and my shoulder personally thanked me. My new favorite line for 7’6” and longer rods! Get it, you’ll love it!
Cast wonderfully on my 8ft 4wt
We do a lot of small mouth fishing on very clear lakes. Distance is a big plus. Really like this line on my 6wt. The longer belly carries very well and shoots like a dream. 80’ + cast are a breeze. Other manufacturers have discontinued similar lines. I hope you don’t.
Cortland continues to make great fly lines in the USA. I fished my new 7 wt. long belly distance line yesterday and it was a pleasure to cast heavy streamers for hickory shad and smallmouth bass. I can't wait t use it next fall for steelhead.
