FAQ

Cleaning your fly line is very important especially when fishing saltwater. Simply pull line off your reel into a clean bucket or tub of freshwater. Put roughly 1oz or more of Cortland’s Line Cleaner solution onto a clean rag or towel. Firmly squeeze the towel with Pro Line Cleaner around the line and slowly pull line through the towel. You should be able to see dirt or discolored streaks on the towel when finished.

Still one of the best sinking lines

Cortland 333 Full Sinking Type 3 is an exceptionally good long distance fly line at a very favorable price. The taper on this fly line is a precursor of a lot of WF lines on the market today. The quality of the coating on a 333 is not the same as on a 444, but it doesn’t matter. In terms of casting performance, Cortland 333 is still one of the best sinking fly lines.

The casting properties is excellent and the thin overall profile cuts through wind perfectly. The thin profile also makes it possible to set very tight loops, which is crucial for reaching long distances. Cortland 333 is perfectly balanced and is very easy to handle. In my opinion, this must be one of the most underestimated fly lines today. 333 is correctly classified according to AFFTA.

To reach extreme distances, you need to cut the head and put on your own running line. Cortland .031 is an excellent choice of running line for the 333 head. Although there are a many of new fly lines today, a custom-built Cortland 333 sink 3 is still one of the best long-distance lines on the market.
